About

Aaron Salyer brings over 17 years of expertise in coastal engineering, having contributed to more than 1200 projects across diverse coastal environments in Australia, the UAE, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, India, the Maldives, Vietnam, Colombia, and Costa Rica. As the Director and Principal Engineer at International Coastal Management (ICM), Aaron has been at the forefront of delivering innovative and sustainable solutions for complex coastal challenges worldwide.


Aaron’s expertise spans every stage of project delivery, including engineering design, advanced numerical and physical modelling, construction supervision, and contract administration. He has led projects ranging from large-scale beach nourishment and shoreline stabilisation to the design and implementation of nature-based solutions such as eco-engineered artificial reefs. His work has been instrumental in developing coastal resilience strategies that balance environmental sustainability with functional design.


A recognised thought leader in the field, Aaron has authored and co-authored multiple technical papers on coastal engineering, focusing particularly on artificial reefs for coastal enhancement and sustainability. His research-driven approach ensures that ICM’s projects are grounded in science while being tailored to the unique conditions of each site.


Based on the Gold Coast, Australia, Aaron leads a multidisciplinary team with a strong presence in Melbourne, the Gold Coast and remote operations. His leadership has established ICM as a trusted name in both private and public sector projects, with a reputation for excellence in regulatory compliance, expert witness services, and innovative coastal management solutions. Aaron’s passion for advancing the field extends beyond project delivery; he is a sought-after speaker at international conferences and actively contributes to professional development within the industry.
